Fatal Flowers

The still-life, or Nature Morte, has been a rewarding subject throughout art history. The Flemish term Still-life became mid. 17th century first applied to oil paintings characterized by their strong focus on objects.  Positioned on a flat surface. Not depicted as a minor element in a broader story. But as a topic in itself. The French came up with the name Nature Morte, literally "dead nature".  Suggestive of the layered symbolism of the genre and the poignant memories of the transience of life.

Our new collection Fatal Flowers was created in that tradition. Mysterious and dark like a Film Noir. Wildly attractive and seductive like a Femme Fatale. With flowers that also have a dark side behind their beautiful face.
